The Italian American Blockchain Association ("IABA") is the first Italian American center in the U.S. focused on study and research of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, located in Miami.

According to the research of the Blockchain & Distributed Ledger Observatory of the Politecnico Milano School of Management published in January 2021, Italy ranks sixth in the world for blockchain developed projects. The year 2020 saw a 59% global increase in practical applications compared to 2019.

In February 2019, Italian legislation first introduced the definitions of distributed ledger technology and smart contracts.

At the beginning of 2019, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) selected a group of experts to identify a national strategy based on blockchain and artificial intelligence. This translated into an investment of 45 million euros to test the blockchain in three main areas: textiles, food processing, and a branch of precision mechanics.

In June 2019, the independent republic of San Marino within Italian territory approved the "Blockchain Technology for Businesses" bill. San Marino is also promoting the adoption of blockchain through the "San Marino Low carbon ecosystem" project.

In June 2019, at "Blockchain Week Rome" (the largest national blockchain and cryptocurrency event), the multinational Barilla received the first "Forbes Blockchain Award".

In July 2019, Italy was appointed to the presidency of the European Blockchain Partnership. It maintained the position until July 2020 together with Sweden and the Czech Republic.

Ipsos' research uncovered that 85% of Italian managers believe blockchain would help the development of their enterprises.

The U.S. is Italy's major commercial partner outside the European Union with constantly increasing economic and commercial trades.

"Made in Italy" is a top choice for U.S. consumers. Some fine popular Italian exports are pasta, cheese, oil, and wine, with the U.S. being the main market for export.

In a short time, Miami hosted Bitcoin 2022, NFT Week, Mining Disrupt Conference, Miami Crypto Experience, The North American Bitcoin Conference, and several events organized by local institutions.

On January 26, 2021 the city of Miami was the first municipal government to host Satoshi's White Paper on its government site, stating that "The City of Miami is actively exploring how we can best utilize Bitcoin and related technologies and are committed to supporting and attracting businesses and entrepreneurs innovating in the space."

On June 14, 2019, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez inaugurated the Blockchain Center Miami supporting the project carried out by Nick Spanos (leader and pioneer in blockchain), Eryka Gemma and Scott Spiegel.

In 2018, Miami was the first city in Florida for startup development. Today, Miami represents one of the top destinations for tech-developers and technologists moving from hubs (as NYC and the Bay area) where taxes and regulations are unfavorably affecting technology and innovation.

Miami is the gateway between North and South America. Miami is the cruise capital of the world, with about 5 million passengers each year.

Miami International Airport (MIA) ranks in the top 3 airports for the flow of passengers. In 2018 alone, over 45 million passengers traveled through it.

Florida has no state income tax. This makes it extremely attractive for international investors.

Already the Silicon Valley of Latin America, Miami is the headquarters of Latin American operations for most multinationals including American Airlines, Cisco, Disney, Exxon, FedEx, Microsoft, Oracle, Magic Leap, and Sony. Several multinationals like Burger King, DHL, Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Royal Caribbean International, have their global headquarters in the Miami area.

Miami is the city with the largest concentration of international banks in the U.S.

Miami is one of the 3 cities in the world hosting Art Basel, one of the biggest art exhibitions globally.
